Why I Love Wednesdays...Book Settings

Reflections of a Bookaholic

My favorite setting is the Song of Fire and Ice series. I can see it in my head when I'm reading.

Timeline of the History of Westeros
Note: The dates listed are approximations. Westerosi scholars debate many of the events of history, and thus there may be conflicting interpretations. Additionally, the current period is the year of Lord Jon Arryn’s death and the appointment of Lord Eddard Stark as King Robert Baratheon’s Hand.

This photo was entered into the I Heart Faces photo challenge – www.iheartfaces.com

(Entry for I <3 faces photo): We took Tristan apple picking and he had so much fun walking the rows and taking his sweet time with not a care in the world. I would love to be a child, its so uncomplicated.

Here are more pictures from that memorable day. We had so much fun!!!

It's Monday! What are you Reading?

I just finished:
The Barnes & Noble Review
A Feast for Crows, the long-awaited fourth installment of George R. R. Martin's shelf-splitting A Song of Ice and Fire saga, continues the bloody drama of the war-torn Seven Kingdoms and the battle for the Iron Throne. With the king dead and a child on the throne, Cersei -- the Queen Regent -- must protect her son from myriad enemies vying for control of the realm. As the novel's title implies, although the War of the Five Kings is over, death and destruction are still rampant.

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. It was a little long but I loved it! It made me laugh, cry and so much more!

Politics can be murder...
Lieutenant Sam Holland has no sooner accepted Senator Nick Cappuano's proposal than she's back on the job. A woman has been found brutally murdered and evidence points to Henry Lightfeather, a senator and close friend of Nick's. While Sam investigates, Nick stands by his friend—complicating his own bid for reelection, and causing tension between the couple.
As Sam's investigation reveals a scandal that rocks the capital, Nick and Sam discover that the biggest threat to their future might be someone from her past...

I gave this a 5 out of 5. I LOVED it. I can't wait for the next one. So many twists and turns.

I am currently reading:

The hotly anticipated third novel of the Dublin murder squad from the New York Times bestselling author

Back in 1985, Frank Mackey was nineteen, growing up poor in Dublin's inner city, and living crammed into a small flat with his family on Faithful Place. But he had his sights set on a lot more. He and Rosie Daly were all ready to run away to London together, get married, get good jobs, break away from factory work and poverty and their old lives.

In the aftermath of a colossal battle, the future of the Seven Kingdoms hangs in the balance once again--beset by newly emerging threats from every direction. In the east, Daenerys Targaryen, the last scion of House Targaryen, rules with her three dragons as queen of a city built on dust and death. But Daenerys has three times three thousand enemies, and many have set out to find her. Yet, as they gather, one young man embarks upon his own quest for the queen, with an entirely different goal in mind.
